Vista Business - can it really be this slow?
We waited with baited breath for Vista to be installed at work - would speed up our clogged up system etc - now it seems worse than ever. Can it really be this slow? I am not imagining it - I time how long I wait for that damn blue circle to go round before the email I clicked on actually OPENS .... on average 15 SECONDS. Now in our business we're talking scheduling international meetings, emailing multiple zip documents, heavy word processing, running the accounts software, the doc management software, the client tracking software, the webmail, the proxy access for 5 or so colleagues, the .ppt presentations and the spreadsheets. And we're all getting seriously fed up with this long-awaited Vista Schmista. Are you in a fast moving business and suffering like us?

- We're using Vista Enterprise and haven't had any problems like this. First issue - what are your hardware specs? If you're running it on underpowered hardware then that's your problem. RAM upgrades always help. The mail problem sounds like a network issue. It always helps to make sure you have current drivers. Also check the link speed and duplex on your card to make sure it matches the network.
- yes because the economy is going down big time we are going through a great depression here so yes its slowing down alot of business are .
- I use Vista Ultimate personally, but all the business I do consulting for still use XP (at my recommendation). You should look into linux, it's completely free and a hell of a lot faster. Your accounting software may not work with linux, so that will be your only hickup. Linux is generally faster, more secure, and best of all FREE. How can you beat those advantages?
