  1. That's the risk you take when you break the law; getting caught. Don't be so paranoid. Rogers may be a behemoth, but they're not going to do something as stupid (and illegal) as spying on you. (They have Cisco Systems for that amirite?) Just stop pirating stuff. It says that repeat offenders are the ones who ought to be scared. It's not like your IP address is private or anything. Some bot client in the swarm owned by a watchdog group saw your IP and reported it. That's all. No shady business beyond that. And yes, I'm aware that hiring third party `headhunters`, as it were, could be construed as `shady business` by some people. EDIT: Also, if you're a pirate, it would behoove you not to be so blazen about it. Why, for instance, would you loudly declare that you've pirated some GTA game when that's not even what the notice is for? You're just piling on the charges there, posting that several lines away from your IP address. You've admitted your guilt to a second, isolated and unrelated, crime; in writing, no less. EDIT2: It's not really that you're being targeted; it's just that you're the unlucky one. As for whether or not they will press charges, they will not at the present time. The worst that will likely happen, even if you keep it up, will be that Rogers will terminate your service. Afterwards, it's up to the copyright holder to decide whether they want to sue you or not. And yes, if they do, in fact, decide to sue you, then it doesn't matter what country the copyright was issued in or what country you live in; hence `international` copyright.
  2. YES... the law has given ISP's the right to help aide in the fight against illegal downloads... but they only have the right to flag those files that have already been copyrighted (i.e. mp3's, movies, etc...), not personal files...(i.e. family pictures, emails, etc...). I don't like it either, but it is the new law..... but it is up to the individual ISP's as whether to participate in the program, or not. Rogers may or may not participate... but they certainly have the right to... BE CAREFUL !!!
