what is the difference between ACT and Access?

at the risk of sounding like an idiot.. are they both database software? or is ACT! something completely different? I am about to start a job and I will need to keep track of clients and information on a database. I was going to use access. but i saw that they use act.. i don't want to use something else if i don't need to. but i don't want to use act if its not the right program or if its easier to use access.

1. ACT is a simple CRM solution which s great for clients management. unless you have lots of time to customize Access, you should use ACT as it has a great deal of functionality that is hard to build on your own (such as reminder, call note, sales history, contacts and etc)
